National Youth Digital Justice Community of Practice

Fostering a cohort of grassroot youth justice organizations to develop national youth digital justice policy agenda.

ABOUT

NOTICE, TCIA and NCTYP worked together to foster a cohort of 8 youth justice organizations, developing critical digital literacy training for these organizations to further facilitate the development of a national youth digital justice policy agenda that safeguards students' fundamental rights and freedoms against digital pushout and youth surveillance. The national policy agenda will help recenter civil and human rights as the basis for AI governance and digital policy in public education and youth-serving systems at the local, state, and federal levels.

Goals

  • Demystify the consequences of AI and data-driven technologies in the lives of marginalized youth
  • Develop a policy framework and legislative priorities that defend and expand rights and freedoms for our young people against AI and other data-driven technologies
  • Empower local, intergenerational advocacy for youth digital justice, especially through art, cultural, and narrative-based strategies
  • Grow and strengthen local infrastructures across the country to combat AI injustice and champion youth digital justice

Community Based Projects

Each organization will identify a way to relay their learning with their chosen community. Each org will receive a stipend for this project (not per person); a component of the stipend should be to activate an art/culture project, but it doesn’t need to be the whole stipend.
